This is not related to the website but I wanted to get an idea of how everyone else does their league setup. I usually only play 15 or 16 week maximum on the fantasy football league I have set up. I dont like playing that far into the season because I have noticed that if some of the NFL teams clinch their division, they sit their good players so they dont risk injury. For fantasy football leagues this would royally screw the people involved that have the good players, especially if they are playing the final fantasy football week for all the marbles.

I was just wondering how everyone here has their leagues set up, and if there is any way humanly possible to avoid such a catastrophy!!!!! I know this did happen to me in the past with unpaid leagues, but if people are paying money they are going to get pissed off if they lose the whole season because a team sits the top players not to get them injured.

THANKS ALL!!!

My league is a 12 team keeper league that keeps 1 player each season. We usually have our regular season in weeks 1-14; with playoffs in weeks 15-17.

IMHO, A lot of people stray away from this type of setup for some of the reasons you've mentioned above, but in smaller leagues it forces owners to have a more rounded team, instead of stacking them with superstars. our trade deadline is approximately 1 week after thanksgiving weekend - and we usually stop allowing free agent pickups 2 weeks after that (we do make exceptions for NFL players that get placed on IR). It seems fair enough to my league mates (rule changes must be proposed, seconded; then approved by a majority of the owners - but no one's ever even proposed to change it in over 10yrs). from 2000 - present, we've had 9 different league champions, no owner has yet won 2 championships (hopefully I'll be the 1st to accomplish that this season). Personally, I feel that going deeper into the season promotes parity, and forces an owner to actually crunch numbers, stay on top of the waiver wire, and actively manage their team. It also makes owners less inclined to abandon their teams, as we have epic battles for playoff spots all the way up to the end of the season.

A lot of people don't agree with that methodology, but to me, it's usually sour grapes - an owner "upset" because their "cash cow" QB or RB ran dry. Not tryin to knock what is considered to be the more accepted format, just speakin my $0.02. And I'm fairly positive that most will disagree with the above opinions. Smile
